NASA engineer Clement Hiel becomes an honorary citizen of Beveren

Clement Hiel is also the designer of a radar tower in composite material, the parts of which are assembled with a click system. The tower can be assembled 8 times faster than a regular radar tower and requires no maintenance. Moreover, it can be used in any climate type. He received the prestigious Tibbetts Award for Innovation in 2016 for this technology.

His inventions do not necessarily have to be high-tech or exclusive. At the request of his brother Marc Hiel, baker in Zwijndrecht, he designed a baking mold from composite material. The design has since been commercialized by both brothers under the name ‘Clean Baking Products’.
